Tasting Notes For Groth Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2017The dense deep purple color hints at the intensity in this wine. Aromas of sweet vanilla and pie spice layered over black cherries dominate the nose, accompanied by cassis, red plum and a savory touch of sarsaparilla root. The round, rich entry builds quickly to a full structured mouthfeel with consistent acidity. There is a clean, elegant progression of ripe black cherry, black currant, and juicy dark plum, finishing with clove and vanilla, a hint of marzipan and a trickle of cherry juice. The big structure of this wine should have it drinking well into 2040 or beyond.Critic RatingsWine Spectator Review - Issue Oct 31, 2020 – Rated 93:Features overt cherry, plum and raspberry fruit flavors, gilded with anise and mesquite hints. Maintains good energy thanks to fresh acidity through the finish, revealing a long echo of savory and iron. Inviting now, but suitable for cellaring. Best from 2021 through 2033. 2,400 cases made. — JMWine Enthusiast Review - Issue 4/1/2022 – Rated 95:This is a lovely estate wine, made from the finest lots of the producer’s Reserve Vineyard. Pencil shaving, red fruit and vanilla are seasoned in generous oak spice and surrounded by a structured framework of fine, supple tannins. Enjoy from 2027–2032. VIRGINIE BOONEJames Suckling Review - Published September 8, 2020 – Rated 94:This is really beautiful with raspberry, blackberry and blueberry aromas and flavors. It’s full-to medium-bodied with firm, integrated tannins and a beautiful finish. Shows lots of finesse and polish in the texture. Some may find it a little austere, but it should soften in a year or two. Better after 2021.WineryGroth – ReserveCountryUnited StatesRegionNapa Valley, CaliforniaYear2017Grape VarietalCabernet SauvignonSize750 MLABV14.8%Wine StyleRed Wine
